Questions

When does the business landline switch off?

Openreach says the PSTN will be permanently decommissioned on 31 January 2027 (Openreach, 30 October 2026).

Can I keep my business phone number?

Usually, yes. Ask your provider to move the number to a digital line, or ask your new provider to port it when you switch.

Will my alarm or card machine stop working?

It might, if it still uses the old analogue line. Openreach lists payment terminals, lift phones, fire and security alarm panels and door entry among the systems still relying on it. Ask each supplier.
